Cora Mae Brown is elected to Michigan Senate
Cora Mae Brown of Detroit was elected to the Michigan Senate on this day in 1952. Brown had served as a Detroit Police officer before getting a law degree from Wayne State University. She was the first African-American woman to serve in the Michigan Senate.
