Fr. Solanus Casey was Beatified by the Catholic Church in front of a crowd of 60,000 at Ford Field in Detroit on this day in 2017. The ceremony marks the final step prior to sainthood. He is best known for tending to the poor and disenfranchised, especially through the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit.
