Dodge brothers produce their first automobile
The Niles-born Dodge brothers produced their first automobile on this day in 1914. They had previously made auto parts for other companies like Ford. By 1920, the year in which both brothers died, Dodge was one of the industry’s largest companies. The Dodge brand was purchased by Chrysler Corporation in 1928 and remains a division of Fiat-Chrysler today, which is owned by Stellantis.
