On this day in 1948, Ford Motor Company sold its first in a long line of F-series pickup trucks. It was introduced as a replacement for the previous car-based pickup line. The F-Series was sold in eight different weight ratings, with pickup, panel truck, cab-over engine (COE), conventional truck, and school bus chassis body styles. There have now been more than a dozen generations and the vehicle line’s popularity has skyrocketed. The F-Series has been the best-selling pickup truck in America since 1977 and the best-selling vehicle since 1986
