After laying in repose in Montgomery, Washington D.C. and Detroit, the funeral service for civil rights activist, Rosa Parks, was held at the Greater Grace Temple Church in Detroit on this day in 2005. It lasted seven hours, after which the Michigan National Guard laid the U.S. flag over the casket and carried it to a horse-drawn hearse to travel to the cemetery.
