An expert instructor will reveal the secrets behind the renowned Michigan Icicle™ through a live demonstration. As each student works with with the instructors, they’ll witness every blob of molten glass transform into a stunning icicle. Utilizing specialized tools, gravity, and creative insight, they’ll skillfully snip, pull, and stretch the molten glass into its distinctive icicle shape. Adding a touch of white to the molten glass surface is optional, although it is often preferred to enhance the icicle’s charm.

To finish the icicle, Glass Academy’s talented craftsmen will attach a glass loop at the top of the icicle for hanging, Then they’ll place it in the annealer, a cooling oven, to cool to room temperature overnight. Participants will also receive a 20% off coupon to use toward purchases in the studio while there, or if they return to pick up the icicle they crafted.

This is an entry-level class, no experience is necessary, and is just one of several educational opportunities at Glass Academy.
