2021 Buy Michigan Now Festival Cancelled

Festival News

We’re saddened to say that due to the ongoing complications associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Downtown Northville opted not to host our annual festival which was originally scheduled for August 6-8, 2021. We hope to welcome you back to a live BMN event again soon. Vendors who had reserved space have all been notified and given options regarding refunds. The deadline to request a refund is July 15, 2021. If you have questions, please send an email to Fest@BuyMichiganNow.com.

Partners & Members

This event is our biggest fundraiser of the year, so the cancellation for a second year presents a huge challenge for the Buy Michigan Now campaign. We are incredibly grateful to the businesses who have become paying members and sponsors in order to keep our important work going. Many businesses have even agreed to pay for an annual membership for a fellow entrepreneur who is unable to afford it during this difficult year. If you’re interested in becoming one of our sponsorship partners or have an idea for a venue where we can host a new event please contact Lisa Diggs via Lisa@BuyMichiganNow.com

While the 2021 Buy Michigan Now Festival was unfortunately cancelled due to safety concerns associated with COVID-19, we are deeply appreciative of the sponsors who continued to support our efforts to grow a stronger Michigan economy. For information on becoming a sponsor of the Buy Michigan Now campaign, please contact Lisa Diggs via Lisa@BuyMichiganNow.com or 248-390-0974.

Vendors for this festival are selected based on its mission of creating jobs, supporting entrepreneurs, and helping Michigan businesses grow, remains. Unlike many other street fairs and festivals, all of the businesses exhibiting at the Buy Michigan Now Festival must meet one of the following criteria in order to participate:

  • Operates entirely in Michigan
  • Headquartered in Michigan with additional operations outside the state
  • Michigan-owned franchise or affiliate: some fees or revenue paid out of state
  • Artist, author, or musician that resides in Michigan

In addition to seeking only Michigan-based businesses, priority consideration is given to companies physically producing unique merchandise within the state, which is why it’s a great place to discover new tastes and products coming out of Michigan.  Due to the pandemic, we are sorry to say we are NOT accepting any applications for 2021.

Food is one of the major highlights of this event. Whether you’re looking to fill your pantry or just your stomach, tasty delights await from vendor booths and Northville eateries.

This festival is made possible through a variety of sponsors and partners. Contact Lisa@BuyMichiganNow.com to learn how your Michigan-based organization can get involved.

Become a Volunteer

We couldn’t pull off this vibrant community event without the support of dozens of volunteers. Be an ambassador for your state and join in on the fun. We need people to help vendors check-in and get set; greet guests and answer questions; play with children in the Kids Zone, sell tickets and serve thirst-quenchers in our Michigan Beverage Garden, and more. Small groups are welcome. Students 16 and over may gain community service credits as well as gaining valuable experience.

About Northville, MI

The City of Northville alone is worth a visit, retaining a small-town atmosphere with stately Victorian-era architecture, and a contemporary, yet historic downtown. Old-fashioned street lamps and benches line the streets, which boast plenty of specialty shops, galleries, theaters, and restaurants. Most of the businesses are locally-owned, making it an ideal backdrop for a fest of this nature.

The Buy Michigan Now Festival highlights one of the city’s most popular traditions, the Summer Friday Night Concerts. During the summer, Town Square is the place to be every Friday night as the sounds of a popular area band fill the air.

Legend has it that arrivals of fairies from around the world have been noted in the downtown area of Northville. Evidence of their presence can be seen with tiny doorways hidden on the inside and outside of stores on Main, Center, and other mid-town streets. Fairy businesses have been established and as more appear, it is obvious the colony of little beings is growing. Children are encouraged to look closely at each store to see if they can discover its mysterious little fairy door.

Located on the western fringe of the Detroit Metro area, Northville is about 30 minutes from downtown Detroit and 25 minutes from downtown Ann Arbor. The major thoroughfares of I-275 and M-14 are nearby, making access easy.
