(Livonia, June 2, 2020) – Due to safety concerns associated with COVID-19, Buy Michigan Now is cancelling its 2020 festival. The event originally scheduled for July 31 – August 2, 2020, was to be its 12th Buy Michigan Now Festival. The annual event promotes Michigan-based businesses and Michigan-made products.

“As much as we care about the Michigan economy, we care even more about the health and safety of our friends and neighbors. So it is with deep sadness that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Buy Michigan Now Festival in Northville,” said Lisa Diggs, founder of the Buy Michigan Now campaign. “However, we remain more determined than ever to remind people of the importance of banding together to buy locally, especially during this economic turmoil. Together we can revitalize Michigan’s economy.”

The annual festival is typically the culmination of Buy Michigan Week. That initiative will still take place July 27 – August 4. During that time businesses around the state are encouraged to offer special deals on Michigan-made products. Shoppers are asked to make an extra effort to learn and buy more locally. In lieu of the festival, Buy Michigan Now will use its social media to promote the special week.

The Buy Michigan Now campaign is made possible through corporate sponsorship and membership fees from participating businesses. Email info@buymichigannow.com to discuss these partnership opportunities. Michigan-based organizations may join the campaign online.
