Livonia, November 12, 2020) – Billions of dollars are spent during the holiday season each year. Consequently, Buy Michigan Now (BMN) urges Michiganders to buy locally throughout the holidays. The idea is more important than ever, with an economy struggling to recover from the pandemic. So, to make that easier, BMN has released its biggest Holiday Gift Guide. Additionally, the website features Holiday Deals from Michigan businesses for the first time.

2020 Holiday Gift Guide

This is the fourteenth edition of the gift guide. The 2020 version features 200 ideas in twenty categories. Viewers of the gift guide will find a dropdown menu of categories with ten items listed in each. Users click on an item to link to that Michigan company’s website. There they can purchase the specific item suggested, or search for more products offered by these Michigan-based companies.

New Holiday Deals Program

This year, in an effort to help small businesses compete with national retailers, BMN also started a Holiday Deals Program. Visitors can find discounts on individual items or entire product lines from Michigan companies. By gathering multiple discounts in one location, the campaign hopes to help smaller companies get more attention. Plus, it helps shoppers save money. New discounts are being added regularly, and the majority will run from Nov 15-Dec 15, 2020.

Submitting a Deal

Michigan-based companies may complete an online form to apply to include a deal. There is no fee to participate.

The BMN website also features a Grocery Guide to help customers find food and beverages to serve. The Retail page also features shops that focus on Michigan-made products.

“Arguably, there has not been a more important year to buy locally than this one,” said Buy Michigan Now founder, Lisa Diggs. “We hope these tools will inspire people think more before buying. We want to make it easier for people to keep their dollars close to home.”

Buy Michigan Now is funded by Michigan-based organizations that become paying members and sponsors. Businesses interested in joining the campaign may do so online by visiting the website. Organizations interested in becoming sponsors of the campaign or any of its programs may contact Lisa Diggs via
