(Livonia, Mich, January 24, 2012) Buy Michigan Now (BMN) is planning a party for Michigan’s 175th birthday. The milestone is on January 26, 2012. BMN invites fans of Michigan to celebrate the landmark event along with them. It asks people to tout their Michigan love through social media. Plus, Tubby’s, Cloverleaf, and Hiller’s are hosting live events.

Social Media

During the week of January 22-28, the campaign wants fans of the state to take to social media. Upload pictures of Michigan sights and products, create enthusiastic videos, and share links to positive stories. Twitter users should use the hashtag #Mich175 with all related messages. Follow along with @BuyMichiganNow on Twitter and Facebook.

“We’re asking everyone who loves Michigan like we do, to take advantage of social media and all their other resources to demonstrate their pride. We’re excited that so many great Michigan-based businesses have already answered the call.”

Tubby’s Sub Shops

On the January 26 anniversary, all Tubby’s Sub Shops will be offering their 6” Famous sub sandwich for only $1.75 in honor of Michigan’s 175 years of statehood.  The offer is one day only and limited to one 6” Famous sub per person.

Cloverleaf Bar & Restaurant

The Eastpointe eatery is also celebrating its 65th anniversary of making pizza. Consequently, Cloverleaf is holding a contest to honor both anniversaries. In the Anniversary Enter-to-win contest, two winners will be randomly selected. They will receive a FREE large 2-topping Cloverleaf pizza and a large antipasto salad once a month for six months, OR a Buy Michigan Now gift basket. The gift basket is filled with Michigan-made products. Winners will be announced on January 26.

Cloverleaf is also hosting an essay contest open to Eastpointe grade school students; whereby, the students will write about what they like about Michigan. Students whose essays are selected, will win a pizza party for their class. They will also get a fundraiser party, where Cloverleaf will donate 20% of all food sales to the school’s PTO.

Lastly, Cloverleaf has a contest for Eastpointe’s Junior High and High School art student classes. Students have designed posters to represent Michigan. Two winning poster designs will be unveiled at Cloverleaf’s Anniversary Party slated to take place in February. The winners will also have their posters displayed at Cloverleaf, as well as and at First State Bank. The bank is sponsoring the contest and providing the winners with a Buy Michigan Now gift basket.

Hiller’s Market

Meanwhile, Hiller’s Market in Commerce Township is hosting a Michigan Healthy Foods Fare on Saturday, January 28. The event is from 11AM – 3PM.  Guests can sample products from over 25 Michigan vendors. The store is at 39950 W 14 Mile Rd.
