(Livonia, Mich, July 8, 2016) – The Buy Michigan Now Festival is on its way back to Downtown Northville, August 5-7. The event promotes Michigan-based businesses, which means vendor and sponsorship opportunities are now open.
“When we held our first Buy Michigan Now Festival back in 2009 there were only about 40 companies. Now there are well over 150 different businesses selling products to thousands of visitors,” said Lisa Diggs, founder of the Buy Michigan Now campaign. “We love creating opportunities for residents to buy directly from Michigan companies. Not surprisingly, in many cases they can meet the entrepreneurs behind the products. That leads to a brighter economic future for all of us, which is what our campaign is all about.”
The fest is on Main and Center streets in Downtown Northville. It is a weekend filled with family-friendly activities that reinforce the campaign’s mission, because it’s Buy Michigan Week.
The Buy Michigan Now Festival hours are below.
- 4 p.m.- 9 p.m. on Friday, August 5
- 1o a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday, August 6
- 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, August 7
Town Square will be home to a Michigan-made Beer and Wine Garden, presented by the Northville Chamber of Commerce. The area will also feature live entertainment from talented local musicians including Soulshiners, Donna Holman, Rare Standard, Gerry Bee and the Bluescasters, Rick Canzano, 3rd Degree Byrnes, David Gerald Band, and more. The Friday night concert begins at 7:30p.m. with Midland-based Empty Canvas. Lead singer, Mike McMath, creates a painting during the show, and may even invite audience members up to add their personal touches to the canvas.
Family fun continues in the Kids Zone where youngsters can play games, do arts and crafts, get their faces painted, and even put together their own toy vehicle by entering an Airstream and completing the steps in an assembly line. New this year will be the addition of a ping-pong parlor, where guests can play each other, or battle it out with a robot.
A full list of entertainment and children’s activities will be announced soon.
